Derbyshire Distillery purchases new still through Ryebeck!
Derbyshire Distillery, the first commercial distillery in Chesterfield, is expanding. With the expert advice of Ryebeck, the company has just purchased a brand new state-of-the-art 400 litre Kothe still. Handmade in Germany, the still will be installed in new purpose-built premises at Markham Vale. This is just next to junction 29A of the M1 motorway. Currently based in Staveley, the business will be moving operations there soon.
Working with Ryebeck
Ryebeck are experts in sourcing and supplying high quality stills. Through working with them, Derbyshire Distillery is looking to the future. The new German still will enable the company to produce a range of spirits, including rum, whisky and vodka. This is in addition to several highly successful gins. So far, the distillery has been relying on two 100 litre column stills. With the gin boom continuing to show growth, the company will boost production to meet growing demand for its spirits. The new hybrid pot-column still will allow the company to launch several new products in the next few years.
Growing its reputation quickly
Since launching in 2018, the distillery has quickly grown its reputation across Derbyshire and the Peak District. The gins use high quality local and international botanicals, along with fresh Derbyshire water. Both consumers and critics are clearly impressed!
Awards
At the prestigious International Gin Guide Awards 2019, Chesterfield Dry Gin was runner-up in the London Dry and Traditional Gin categories. The awards are an impressive result for a distillery that has been in existence for less than a year! This surely bodes well for future products created on the new still.
Hotels, restaurants and bars across the region plus selected retailers, including the Chatsworth Farm Shop, currently stock Derbyshire Distillery gins. Also the company attends and hosts events, such as food/drink festivals and tastings.
